Why We Think China Made LCDs won’t be Blocked by Apple in the Coming iOS Updates

The rumor that the China made iPhone LCDs can’t survive the upcoming iOS updates existed for quite a long time which aroused panic among repair shops. Many repair shops who want to use/have already used these screens to compete with authorized repair are wondering, will Apple brick these iPhone to kill the third party repair? We ETrade Supply don’t think so and here is why:

Reason 1. There is no need for Apple to do so by affecting so much iPhones users
Do you still remember that users sued Apple for bricked iPhone due to "error 53"? The situation is almost the same except only few people have let their home button be replaced by third party repair shops. How many China made iPhone LCDs have been sold? We don’t have the exact number. However, from what we know, the number should be over 1 million pieces at least. Will Apple brick millions of iPhones just to kill third party repairs?
http://www.xtstorm.com/wholesale-phone-replacement-parts/lcd-screen-wholesaler/all-iphone-lcds.html

Reason 2. Learn from the “History”
Same rumors for the 4/4S screen before. The OEM LCDs for 4/4s died out for quite a long time, all screens supplied were China copy one since 2 years ago. Not a case of bricked phone/unusable have showed for the updating to the new iOS system.

Why this rumor came into being?
The most possible reason that this rumor has been created—is just to cut the price of the China copy iPhone LCD and more possibly-- the demand for it.
A week before the Apple event in March 2016, the rumor was “China made iPhone LCDs can’t survive in the coming iOS 9.3 updates”, the price of these LCDs dropped significantly and everyone was holding their orders, waiting to see the result. Within one week, the price has dropped around $10/pc. After people found out that they did survive, the price increased again and here came the rumor “the China made iPhone LCDs won’t survive the iOS 10 updates”.

Who will get benefits from this rumor?
1.       Refurbishing Facilities/Companies
Since last June, more and more repair shops have accepted the China made iPhone LCDs because less OEM screens are supplied. A large certain amount of demand of OEM iPhone screens has been moved the China made ones. The rumor that “the China made iPhone LCDs won’t survive the newest iOS updates” will sure bring some demand back to those crappy OEM screen which have been used for quite a long time/ refurbished for multiple times.
iPhone LCD refurbishing facility.jpg

2.       Reclamation Companies
This guys are even more sensitive to the demand and price of OEM screens. Keeping the demand at a high level means they can earn more cash.
iPhone screens refurbishing.jpg

3.       Those who hold plenty of 6 OEM screens at hands
The rumor is “ALL the China made iPhone LCDs won’t survive the iOS 10 updates”, not only for 5 series. As we all know, there are already China Made 6 screens in the market. Those who stocked large amount OEM 6 screens will be happy to see people still paying high price for the OEM 6 screens for quite a long time.
The supply chain of cell phone replacement parts is sophisticated, unclear and without any standards, which make it look more like gambling. Find a reliable long-term relationship partner who can grow with you is the key to success for repair shops. If you have any questions regarding the China made LCDs, please leave your comment below!

What will it bring to repair industry when iPhone 7S features OLED screen?

According to the news from The Korean Herald, Samsung has signed a contract with Apple about supplying 100 million OLED screens in 2017. Another news revealing that LG has also added a product line for OLED screen, which will be put into production in early 2017. So in early 2017 or at the latest by 2018, we will see iPhone made of OLED screen.
As for the influences to the mobile phone repair industry, let’s first take a look at the supply of the mobile phone repair parts market.
http://www.xtstorm.com/
Take the most popular iPhone replacement screens for example, there’re 4 different types of sources;
The main sources for original LCD screen replacements are spare inventories from original manufacturers or defective parts from original assembly lines.
The majority of damaged screens are glass-only broken screens, while the LCD display and digitizer still work. To refurbish these screens with brand new glass replacements can make them back to life and market again.
Apart from the original LCD assembly replacements, some original spare or defective LCD displays are seeping into the market. And some small third-party manufacturers will purchase and turn them into final replacements by assembling with new glass lens, adhesives, digitizer frames, backlight films, LCD ICs etc.
The OEM-complaint replacements showed up because of the imbalance between huge demands for replacements and few original stock in availability. Comparing with the original screens, OEM-complaint ones work but still need to be improved regarding the display effect and working stability.
Judge from the market demand, the original, refurbished and flex-assembled LCD screen, which uses the original LCD, are the most needed replacement in the market. However, since last June, the original LCDs are more and more difficult to be obtained due to the strong control of original factories for the spare inventories and defective LCDs, which makes the original LCD price rises drastically and leads the repair shops and screen replacement suppliers into a dilemma. In order to meet the demands of these repair shops, the parts suppliers customized and ordered the LCDs from the Chinese factories, and assembled these China made LCD screens by third party manufacturers. Subject to cost competition, the repair shops have no choice but to purchase the China made LCD screen replacements instead.
**In the long run, the price of original LCD screen will not decrease so much due to shortage of supply.
**
So what will it truly bring to repair shops when Apple starts using the OLED screen in iPhones?
The OLED technologies, are basically monopolized by LG and Samsung while the LCD production technology are already quite mature in China (both in high, medium and low-level). Unfortunately the Chinese LCD screen manufacturers for the time being has no technical strength to produce the small size OLED screen replacements in bulk and high standards (Though TM and JDF's OLED product lines are under construction and pre-production, there is still a long way to meet iPhone product's standards). Besides, the 3D touch function of iPhone LCD screen assembly increases the technical difficulty of production. We have to admit that the China made OLED screen replacements can’t meet the demands of the market in short term.
As for the third party repair shops, the refurbished LCD screen which comes from the glass-only broken LCD screen of customers, will be the major source of screen, and today is not the worst day for third party repair shops.

How Do You Know Your iPhone is Unlocked Or Not?

When buying a new iPhone, you may always want to know whether it’s unlocked or not. An unlocked iPhone can be used on any network while the locked one can only be used on the network the phone is locked to. So do you know exactly whether your iPhone is unlocked or not? You can try these ways.
1. Check Carrier Settings
The simplest way to check if your iPhone is locked or unlocked, is to check your carrier settings, tab your ‘Settings’ on the home screen, then look for ‘Mobile’ or ‘Cellular’ tabs(if the device is set to American English, it will say ‘Cellular’ instead), then check for the option named Mobile Data Network (or Cellular Data Network). If you see an option of Mobile Data Network, then your phone is most likely unlocked. This option should not appear on the locked iPhone, however you should also recognize that this method is not 100% reliable. To make sure, you can double-check by ejecting your SIM card and shut down your iPhone, and when reboot your iPhone, make sure the carrier status says ‘No SIM’ or ‘Service Not Available’, then tap ‘Settings’ once more, if the ‘Cellular’ or ‘Carrier’ option is still available then your iPhone is unlocked.

2. Check with different SIM cards
The other way to check whether it is unlocked, is testing with different SIM cards. Shut down your iPhone, take out your original SIM card and insert another network provider’s SIM card, then turn it back on, you will see the new network name in the status bar if your iPhone is unlocked. And you can also try to make a call, if you can, your phone is unlocked. If you get a message that indicates there is a problem and you can’t make calls, your phone is locked.

3. Online-Checking
Dial *#06# to get your imei number and copy it, then you can go to the website like this one http://iphoneimei.info/, enter your imei number, then you can find out whether your phone is unlocked or not.

How to unlock my iPhone?
First you can contact your carrier to unlock your device for free or for a fee. And there are also many sources of information on the web about how to get your phone unlocked and there are many websites which can provide an unlock code.

How To Fix iPhone 6S Auto Shutdown When It Still Has Battery?

Recently, some users reported that their iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus shut off randomly even it still had 40% or more battery remaining. Apple admitted it’s a bug the battery status did not update. After a series of investigation, they came to a conclusion that the time zone or clock setting seemed to be the culprit.
iphone 6s power off randomly.jpg

So when you’re unfortunately suffering from this issue, first is to reboot your device and go to Settings > General > Time and Date to set it as auto-setting mode.

If the problem still exists, try following tips before sending in Apple for repair.
1. iOS Update
Update your iOS to the latest version to see if it works.
ios-9-2-logo.jpg

2. DFU Restore
A “DFU Restore” (DFU is short for Device Firmware Update) is an even deeper restore mode than the recovery mode according to Apple’s description on their website. You can DFU restore your device with following instructions:
Plug your iPhone 6S/6S+ into a computer and open iTunes.
Press and hold the Power Button and Home Button together for 8 seconds.
After 8 seconds, release the Power Button but continue to hold the Home Button until iTunes says “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.”
Let go of the Home Button. Your iPhone 6S will go black completely if you’ve successfully entered DFU mode. If it’s not, try again from the beginning.
Restore your iPhone 6S using iTunes.
iphone-dfu-mode.jpg

3. Battery Calibration
Your iPhone 6S may need a battery calibration, learn how to calibrate an iPhone 6S battery here:
▶ Run your iPhone 6S battery down to 0% and auto power off.
▶ Charge your device till it reaches 100%, do not unplug or use it during the charging.
▶ Leave your iPhone 6S on charge for one more hour although it has reached 100%.
▶ Use your device as normal to drain the battery till zero, do not charge it during this usage.
▶ Charge your iPhone 6S to 100% again and charge another hour to make sure it’s fully and completely charged.
Now your iPhone 6S’s battery is calibrated.
iPhone-Battery-Full.png

If one of above tips you work, possibly it’s a faulty battery, please consult your local Apple Service for a replacement. Apple will not charge you anything to replace a battery if your iPhone 6S is still under AppleCare+.

 iphone battery replacement charge.jpg

However, if you’re not covered with the warranty or AppleCare+, at least $79 will be charged to get your iPhone 6S battery replaced. Compared with that, to buy an iPhone 6S battery at an approximate cost of $40 and have it replaced by someone else or by yourself would be cheaper. Please note that you run your own risk and the warranty will be voided if you’re going to replace your iPhone 6S battery by third parties. As you may need, here is a tutorial guide about How to Replace an iPhone 6S’ Battery for your reference.

How to Fix Phone Gets Hot and Battery Drains Fast

If your phone whether it’s an iPhone 6S or a Galaxy S6 suddenly gets hot although you’re not using it in a hot summer or it’s not charging, then you should pay attention. An overheating phone will lead to a faster battery draining or even cause the battery to explode, which is dangerous. Why it happens? What to and not to do when a phone gets too hot? Here we go:
iphone gets hot and battery draining.jpg

What is the cause?
1. High Temperature. The working temperature for a smartphone is 0~35 degrees Celsius, equals to 32~95 degrees Fahrenheit. Be aware when your phone is exposed to a hot summer or direct sunlight for a long time.
2. Intense Workload. Too many apps running in the foreground or background results in the processor always working and lasting in an overload status which makes the device unable to dissipate heat timely.
3. Poor Signal. If your device is in a poor mobile network, the device will increased transmitter power to have a massive data interaction with nearby base stations, which will also lead the processor to run in overload and have no time to cooling down.
4. Faulty Battery. An original battery which is about to finish its service or a faulty battery produced by a third-party manufacturers.
5. Heavy Covering. Cover your phone in a protective case or some heavy stuffs will bring on poor heat dissipation.
6. Calling while Charging. Battery inputs and outputs at the same time will produce heat and the input and output of electric current will also put you in danger when you’re calling while the phone it’s charging.
7. Software Incompatibility. An iPhone after jailbreak or an Android phone after root may be installed some malicious or incompatible plugins without notice, which give rise to the cellphone heating.
iphone needs cool down.png
What to do?
1. Keep or use your phone in a good ventilation place.
2. Turn off background running apps and uninstall the seldom use or never use apps.
3. Disable auto download and auto update selections.
3. Remove the protective cases when a phone is getting hot.
4. Use a good quality earphone instead of placing the phone close to your cheek when having a long conversation.
5. Stop the app you’re using or the video you’re watching when a phone is getting hot.
6. Install a professional app to detect what causes the phone to heat.
7. Watching out the weird overheating at any time.
8. Power your device off to let it rest for a moment.
9. Turn to local service center or repair shops for help.
protective case burned.png
How to avoid?
1. Avoid playing a game, watching a video or calling while the phone is charging.
2. Avoid protecting your phone with poor heat dissipation case.
3. Avoid charging your phone with faulty chargers or cables.
4. Avoid holding your phone or putting it into a pocket when it’s getting hot.
5. Avoid rapid cooling like placing it in a refrigerator or in front of the air conditioner as the large difference between the inside and outside of cellphone will lead to condensation which will damage the phone.

How to Replace/Repair iPhone 6S 3D Touch Layer

Not long after the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus being released, we post a tutorial guiding how to replace an iPhone 6S+ screen with 3D Touch layer disassembled. In this post, we’re going to discuss about is it possible to replace a broken iPhone 6S screen without replacing the original 3D Touch layer?

Before starting, always bear in mind that be extreme careful to install a 3D Touch layer as the vulnerable flex cable ribbon is easily to get broken, also do not apply too much force to the IC chip to avoid any damage.

Now let’ get started.
Test the iPhone 6S LCD and digitizer assembly with the 3D Touch layer disassembled.
Test results:
1. LCD display and touchscreen worked as usual.
2. 3D Touch did not function at all.
3. Slight light leakage showed up around the display edges.

Reassemble the iPhone 6S LCD and digitizer assembly with a brand new 3D Touch layer replacement.
Test results:
1. LCD display and touchscreen worked as usual.
2. 3D Touch functioned well, too.
3. Still slight light leakage showing up around the display edges.

Summary:
1. The iPhone 6S backlight film is firmly attached to the 3D Touch layer, any damage to the backlight film during the 3D Touch layer disassembly will lead to light leakage.
2. The 3D Touch layer may also get damaged during the disassembly.
3. Strongly recommend you to replace the iPhone 6S LCD and digitizer with 3D Touch layer assembled in order to reduce the chance of breaking it.

5 Tips to Tell OEM and Copy LCD of iPhone 6

Here we show you 5 tips to tell the difference between an OEM and copy LCD for the iPhone 6.

Tip 1: Apple Logo

IMG_9753.JPG
The most obvious evidence towards an OEM iPhone 6 LCD screen is whether or not Apple's logo is present. Are there Apple logos on both the LCD screen flex and digitizer's flex cables? Moreover, is there an Apple logo printed on the back of the LCD screen? If there are, then congrats! You have a 100% OEM manufactured and assembled iPhone 6 LCD screen and digitizer assembly.
IMG_9754.JPG

Please keep this tip it in mind when you are buying iPhone 6 LCD screens. Additionally, there is a laser mark on the front facing camera's retaining bracket and proximity sensor retaining bracket. If the laser mark is present then you will be able to see a blue layer film reflected in the light on the covers.

Tip 2: Cable Flexibility

The next tip requires you to check out the flexibility of the flex cables. The OEM factories need to produce softer and more flexible digitizer flex cables to make sure that they will not break during installation and after being folded many times. These softer flex cables have a much higher production cost then standard hard flex cables. Keep in mind that only the digitizer's flex should be softer, while the LCD's flex will be harder even on the OEM.

Tip 3: Hydrophobic Glass

The OEM LCD screen's glass lens has a special material on its surface, making it hydrophobic. This means that water has no way to stick to the surface and will roll right off, but the material is made so that not even any liquid residue will be left over. It use to be that this was very expensive for 3rd party factories to produce, and residue or “mist” would be left over from the water rolling off the screen. Recently though 3rd party factories have been applying a coating that achieves this effect, but there are still many screens in circulation that do not have this coating.

Tip 4: Frame

The fourth tip to tell the difference is by the frame. Real OEM iPhone 6 LCD Screen Assemblies have a smoother and shinier frame. The difference between OEM and a copy part is not easy to describe accurately. The only way to figure it out is to touch and feel the parts, but essentially a real OEM part will have smooth brackets on the frame with no small metal shavings coming off them.

Tip 5: Appearance

Don't judge a book by its cover? Well in this case you can. Real OEM LCD screens are darker than fake copy ones. Compared with the original part, copy iPhone 6 LCD screens tend to have a gray tint to them. As for the glass lenses, the rim and the edges of the OEM part feels much smoother to the touch around the four corners. Reclaimed or copy parts may have kind of a rough trim on the rim and the edges.

One more tip. Look at the QR code on the back of the parts. Generally speaking, a QR code is printed on the back, which can't be wiped off easily on an OEM part, but a fake part's QR code will come right off with a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

HOW TO TELL OEM AND FAKE IPHONE 5 LCD SCREEN

HOW TO TELL OEM AND FAKE IPHONE 5 LCD SCREEN

Bought some iPhone 5 LCD Screen from China Supplier, but there are many defective ones after installation? They claimed the LCD display is OEM, but how to Tell OEM and fake iPhone 5 LCD Screen? Here we would like to tell you some tips of how to recognize the original and copy lcd screen. This will help you choose better quality parts in future.
Method one of How to Tell OEM and fake iPhone 5 LCD Screen:
Water Test. Maybe you know this is the most common method to distinguish OEM and copy lcd screen for iPhone 5. Just have a test. If the water focus on one place and not flow away, then it is OEM. If the water is spreading out, then the screen is fake. However, there are better high copy glass which is waterproof in China. So, the first method is not the unique method. Let's move on to next method.
The copy touch glass can be waterproof, but it can not have below feature - the front camera area can turn colorful, just like a rainbow. Only original iPhone 5 LCD Screen has this feature:

Method two of How to Tell OEM and fake iPhone 5 LCD Screen:
Checking the plastic frame to find the defect. Some fake iPhone 5 lcd screens are using fake frame which exist many defect. For example, you can find some glitch at the edge of the frame. You can also see that the metal holding for screws is poor produced.
Method three of how to distinguish original and fake iPhone 5 LCD Screen:
Maybe your supplier guaranteed you that the lcd screen is 100% Original. Yes, that is true! It is indeed original screen. But your suppliers forget to tell you that the LCD Flex Cable is assembled by secondary factory (Not OEM Factory). As we know, the LCD display should be connected with flex cable, OEM Factory assembled the flex cable with big and powerful machine. But Chinese secondary factory is lack of machine, they assembled the flex cable not very well. It may cause many problems, black or white screen after installation, lines in the display, shaking screen etc. How to see the difference between OEM Factory assembled and China secondary factory assembled? It is difficult for a not professional technical person to spot that. Here we just can not explain it because it is very complicated. You can compare the new iPhone 5 lcd screen you bought with your broken one. Just see the flex cable, maybe you can see some differences.
In summary, it does not make sense to check the glass copy or OEM. What most important is the LCD flex cable, the flex cable must be OEM Factory assembled, otherwise the screen will cause massive problems. To make sure you are buying good quality parts for your business, we recommend you compare quality carefully to avoid money lose.
